So here are my beauty favorites for July and August!!
1. Rimmel Stay Matte - This powder is super cheap and works great with my oily skin. I put it on right after my foundation. I have tried some high end powders and I really prefer this one over some of the best.
2. Benefits Watt's Up! - I think a highlighter is a must for your make up bag. It honestly is that little something that adds a big difference to how your make up looks. I use a lot of matte products because of how oily my skin is, but I also don't want my skin to look too powdery. This adds the right amount of highlight and is great. I got a trial for my birthday at Sephora and loved it the first time I tried it. I just apply it with my finger tip to my cheek bones, the bridge of my nose, and cupids bow. I love the pay off of it and how easy it goes on. I also like how it looks natural and not like I am trying to be a Spice girl! Yup! 90's chick here!
3. Urban Decay Primer Potion - This is a great primer for your eye lids. It makes my eye shadow stay on all day. I prefer the tube one over the doe foot applicator one. I just put a little on my finger tip and apply it to my eye lid. It is simple and easy to use. It helps my eye shadow not crease too.
4. Urban Decay Naked Palette - Ok I know everyone has run the palette into the ground talking about it. Well I am late in the game for purchasing... Could be because it costs 50 dollars. And usually I am a drug store eye shadow girl. I was just one that never spent a lot on eye shadow... I love this palette. I love all the colors and how they work so well with each other. I love the pay off it gives and love how some of the colors are build able and works great with the Primer Potion.
5. Living Proof Full Thickening Cream - Ok so I have had super thick hair since I was born. I pretty much entered the world with a full fro. Now thick hair can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. My hair is so heavy that styling it is hard because it won't hold the curl or whatever I do because my hair weights down the curls and they fall flat. I usually have to get my hair layered to make it so that I can at least style it. But having a baby and everything else going on I really haven't made time for a hair appointment in like oh a year. And the other fun thing about postpartum recovery is you lose your hair. Around 5 months ago I started loosing my hair. Now I don't mean strands here or there, I mean I could make a whole wig for someone from the amount of hair I am losing and it is not letting up. This is causing my hair to look worse. And now it is double hard to style.
So after this long hair history I have told, I want to finally tell you about this product. This stuff is WONDERFUL!! It adds life back into my hair. It gives my hair style, so much more volume, lift, and keeps my hair in the same style for at least 2 days. Being a mom means sometimes you can't wash and style your hair each day so I need something that won't make my hair look greasy and will hold my style and this does both. I shampoo, condition my hair, and buff as much water out as I can and then I add about a quarter size amount to my hair. I then dry and style. This product doesn't work well unless you dry it with a hair dryer so make sure you don't use it then let it air dry. I have tried a ton of hair products over the years and nothing has ever worked as well as this has for me. Another tip for this product: don't brush it while drying your hair. I found just running my fingers through it while drying gives me great southern big hair!!
6. Hour Glass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation Mattifying Oil Free - This is hands down the best foundation I have ever used. There is one draw back about this product I want to talk about first and fore most. This is super pricey. I mean I have never in my life paid so much for make up. Another tip, since I am a stay at home mom and I don't want to use this product up every day, I do have an every day drug store make up that I use. I only use this one if I know I will be out and about. Some days are just not make up days for this momma. So with that being said, here is why I love this so much.
One of the first things I like about this foundation is its a liquid-to-powder foundation formula. Mineral foundation has always been great for my skin but never gave me the coverage I needed. This is the best of both worlds for me. It goes on super easy with a stippling brush and then dries super fast to a powder. I was worried at first that it would settle into the lines on my face but it doesn't at all. It is humidity-proof and water-resistant which is great. I never have to re-apply and it absorbs oil which helps from having your make up run down your face in this North Carolina heat. The cover is great and camouflages my old acne scars wonderfully. I also like that it has build able coverage depending on how you apply it so it never makes you look like you have a mask on. I honestly can't say enough about how great this has been for me and my skin. I have been using it for a few weeks and have seen no break outs or anything.
7. Make Up Forever Full Cover Concealer - This is a great full coverage concealer. It is great at covering my dark circles, acne scars and redness around my nose. I put this on before my Hour Glass Immaculate Liquid Powder foundation. It smooths out my complexion wonderfully before I even put on my foundation. Its stays put, is very creamy, dries fast, is light feeling on my face and not heavy at all.
